Day 1: Mount meru hiking from Arusha or Moshi to Miriakamba Hut

You depart Arusha or Moshi and head to Arusha National Park in the morning to begin your trek up Mount Meru. Upon arrival at the entrance gate of Arusha National Park, your guide completes the necessary paperwork and continues to the nearby Momella Gate. Day hikers can easily access Miriakamba Hut via the direct route. It takes 4–5 hours, depending on your stamina and pace.

The hike starts at Momella Gate of Arusha National Park at 1,500 meters and treks up to Miriakamba Hut at 2,500 meters. During our 1-day hike up Mount Meru, trekkers get to see distant views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and animals such as buffalo, giraffes, warthogs, dik-diks, monkeys, etc.   Birds likely to be seen include turacos, hornbills, and butterflies such as the golden-winged forrester and the mocker swallowtail, among others. 17:00hrs We’d be back at the center where you will be transferred back to your residence or hotel in Arusha or Moshi Town.
