The Rongai Route is one of the routes used to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. It is less crowded compared to some other routes and provides a unique perspective of the mountain.
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
Transfer to the hotel in Moshi or Arusha.

Rest and prepare for the trek
Drive from Moshi/Arusha to the Rongai Gate (Nale Moru). Register with the park authorities and meet the trekking team. Begin the trek through lush rainforest. Hike to Simba Camp for overnight camping
Continue trekking through the moorland. Pass the Second Cave en route to Kikelewa Camp. Spectacular views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields. Overnight camping at Kikelewa Camp
Ascend through the alpine desert. Cross the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Reach Mawenzi Tarn Camp, situated by a small lake. Overnight camping at Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Trek across the lunar desert of the Saddle Ascend to Kibo Hut, the base camp for the summit attempt Rest and prepare for the summit climb Early dinner and early sleep
Wake up around midnight for the summit attempt Reach Gilman's Point (5,681m) at the crater rim before sunrise Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa Descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest Continue down to Horombo Hut for overnight camping
Final descent through the moorland and rainforest Arrive at Marangu Gate Collect summit certificates and celebrate the achievement Transfer back to Moshi/Arusha for a well-deserved celebration and rest .
