Trekking Mount Meru is a popular adventure activity in Tanzania. Mount Meru is located in the Arusha National Park and is the second-highest mountain in Tanzania, standing at 4,565 meters (14,977 feet) above sea level.
Early Morning Departure: Start your day early from Arusha or the nearest town to Mount Meru. It is advisable to arrange transportation in advance.
Momela Gate: Arrive at Momela Gate, the starting point for Mount Meru treks. Complete the necessary registrations and meet your guide.
Trek through the Forest: Begin your trek through the lush rainforest of Mount Meru. Enjoy the diverse flora and fauna along the way, which may include colobus monkeys, birds, and other wildlife.
Miriakamba Hut: Continue your trek until you reach Miriakamba Hut (2,514 meters/8,250 feet), which is a common resting point for multi-day trekkers. Take a break here to enjoy the scenery and have a packed lunch.
Exploration and Photography: Spend some time exploring the surrounding area, taking photographs, and soaking in the natural beauty of the lower slopes of Mount Meru.
Return Journey: After enjoying your time on the mountain, begin your descent back to Momela Gate. You can follow the same trail or take an alternative route if available.
Return to Arusha: Once you reach Momela Gate, say goodbye to your guide and porters. Arrange transportation back to Arusha or your accommodation.
